ACT/SAT Info

College Entrance Exams

Most 4-year public and private colleges, and some 2-year college programs, require a college entrance exam as part of the admission process. The exams are the ACT and the SAT.

While the vast majority of colleges will take either the ACT or SAT scores, most students attending college in the Midwest typically take the ACT. Students planning on going to college outside of the Midwest may consider taking the SAT. You can take both. See the map below.

*** NEW FOR 2022-23 ***

ALL JUNIORS have the OPTION to take the ACT Plus Writing Test free of charge as part of legislation passed by the Minnesota State Legislature. The test will be free and scores will be college reportable. The test will be on APRIL 04, 2023.
